CED regions in Netherlands

Below are the local councils and other jurisdictions in the Netherlands that have declared a Climate Emergency, in chronological order. Click the “motion text” links to see details of the motions they passed.

Note: CED motions in the Netherlands use ‘klimaatcrisis’ with the same sort of meaning as ‘climate emergency’. The Dutch word ‘crisis’ is the generic word used in the emergency management field for floods, fires, earthquakes and other emergency situations demanding immediate action. Accordingly, we have added governments in the Netherlands if they’ve passed a ‘klimaatcrisis’ motion. We are NOT adding governments that have passed a ‘climate crisis’ motion in jurisdictions where this has a weaker meaning than in the Netherlands.
